ENTRIES FOR THIS COMPETITION CLOSED ON 20th March 2006.

As part of its commitment to Gloucestershire, the International Screenwriters’ Festival has launched an exciting new competition in the next few weeks aimed at aspiring young writers who are based in the county (supported by Learning & Skills Council Gloucestershire and BBC Radio Gloucestershire). SCRIPT_ONE is offering script development workshops and the opportunity to pitch projects at the New Writers’ Day.

Competition rules

  • Screenwriters with professional credits to their name are ineligible.
  • Entrants should either live, work or study in Gloucestershire. If short-listed, you may be asked to provide proof of this.
  • Entrants must be aged sixteen or over. There is no upper age limit.
  • Short film summaries must be one page or less. Scripts will not be accepted at the first stage.
  • Summaries must be original and written in English.
  • Summaries must be clearly typed. (If you do not have access to a computer, please contact us for advice on where to get help.)
  • The Screenwriter’s Festival is not liable for any loss or damage to any work submitted.
  • Please include a title page stating the name of your story, your name, address, email address and telephone number.
  • The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence can be entered into.
  • Please either email summaries to: lucy@screenwritersfestival.com or post to: SCRIPT_1 Competition, Screenwriter’s Festival, C/o Arturi Films Ltd, Fern House, Bath Road, Stroud, Gloucestershire GL5 3TL.
  • Please ensure that you keep a copy of your work, as we will not be able to return any work submitted to the competition.
  • Prizes: First - £300 and a day pass to the New Writer’s Day
  • Second - £100 and a day pass to the New Writer’s Day
  • Third: £50 and a day pass to the New Writer’s Day
  • Closing date for synopses is 20th March 2006
